The bodega is often the most important building on the block. It is the nexus point of community, where people come together to exchange, dream, and source what they need for today and tomorrow. BODEGA LAND brings that same ethic to community environmental planning: practical, informed, and designed for people who use it every day.
We're a consulting practice working at the intersection of ecological design, watershed science, and community facilitation. We work with community-based organizations and the philanthropic entities that fund them. We transform complex data into shared understanding, with the goal of developing community-focused, implementable, place-based projects.
BODEGA LAND is led by Roman Pérez, Founder & Principal: ecological designer, watershed scientist, and data strategist. Roman's work and approach are grounded in indigenous ways of knowing and fifteen years of practice in urban, suburban and rural communities spanning the Mid-Atlantic, Spain, Puerto Rico, and Guyana. Across each of these places one thing has remained constant: a bioregional watershed-based approach.
Roman's area of expertise is the strategic targeting of environmental investment, land security, predictive impact modeling, and community decision-making enriched by science-backed tools that serve funders and communities alike.

Complex data, streamlined
We ingest the messy, technical evidence base: environmental monitoring, parcel and land-use records, hydrology, census and economic data, community surveys, and program financials. We distill it into clear, decision-ready summaries. Baseline characterization, strategic targeting, and predictive impact modeling, always translated into language that boards, funders, and neighbors can act on.
Geospatial mapping, for people
We build maps for community consumption. Interactive, browser-based tools on an open-source stack, using the highest-resolution public datasets available, so residents can click into their own watershed, their own block, their own future project sites. Transparent methods, no license fees, nothing locked in a desktop application.
Facilitation to implementation
We convene residents, community leaders, organizations, agencies, and funders, and we hold the space between them. Our facilitation moves diverse groups from conversation to implementation-ready, place-based solutions: plans with owners, sites, sequences, and resourcing pathways, not aspirations on a shelf.
